FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT REQUESTS
The following procedures are implemented by the City of Evanston pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
All requests for public records shall be submitted to the Evanston City Clerk using the Request for Public Records Form (above). Requests may be mailed to the City Clerk, 2100 Ridge Avenue, Evanston, Illinois 60201, or faxed to the City Clerk at (847) 448-8131, during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Requested information may be viewed onsite by calling the appropriate department. Requestor shall pay for any copies made.
All requests for non-exempt information must be responded to within seven (7) working days after the receipt of the written request, unless additional time is required, as allowed by the Act. The requestor must be notified by mail if a seven (7) day extension is required.
Requestor may be called to clarify or narrow the request or, if costs are considerable, to see if the requestor wishes all the requested documents.
Requests for information that have been denied may be appealed in writing to the City Manager, City of Evanston, 2100 Ridge Avenue, Evanston, Illinois 60201.
Fees
- Copies of public records are $.25 per page.
- Certification fee is $3.00 per document, plus $.25 per page copying charge.
- Accident report is $5.00.
- DUI report (driving under the influence) is $10.00.
- Ambulance report is $10.00.
- Fire/Incident report is $10.00.
- Audiotapes and videotapes are $5.00 each.
- CD is $5.00.
- Photographs are $5.00 each.
- Transcript from the Hearings Division is $25.00
