Isabella Street Reconstruction Project
Update - To facilitate the safe construction of the concrete base course, Isabella Street will be closed to through traffic from the CTA crossing to Sheridan Road on Friday, May 8, 2009 from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Except for local traffic to Girard, Garrison and Asbury Avenues; all other traffic will be detoured to the marked route along Ashland Avenue to Central Street to Ridge Avenue. During times of closure, residents of Girard Avenue and Garrison Avenue will be allowed access to and from Isabella Street as needed. However, delays of up to 15 minutes are to be expected as the concrete trucks unload concrete from the existing eastbound lane of Isabella Street. Read more...
On March 16, 2009, Di Paolo Company will begin setting up the planned detour and associated traffic control to facilitate reconstruction of Isabella Street from just east of the CTA Purple line crossing to just east of Sheridan Road. Please note the following details related to traffic management:
- Traffic flow on Isabella Street within the aforementioned limits will be modified to one way eastbound, utilizing the south half of Isabella.
- The detour for westbound Isabella traffic will be from Sheridan/Ridge/Isabella intersection southbound along Ridge to Central Street, then westbound along Central Street to northbound Ashland Avenue and reconnecting to Isabella.
- During construction, access to side streets and alleys will be maintained; however, brief interruptions to access can be expected.
Access to driveways will be maintained during construction with the following exceptions: 1) During driveway apron pavement removal operations access will be interrupted briefly to allow contractor to remove pavement and place temporary stone for access. 2) During concrete paving operations access will be interrupted for 5 days. Notifications will be provided at least 24 hours prior to interruption.
It is anticipated that reconstruction work on Isabella Street will be completed by July 2009, weather permitting. We thank you in advance for your continued patience during construction. Please be assured that our goal is to minimize any inconvenience during this project.
