Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre is a municipally-supported theatre program. FJT features productions highlighting the Black experience (see photo at right by Basil Clunie from the Summer 2007 production of Porgy and Bess, The Opera-In Concert).

The Evanston Children’s Theatre program serves as a training ground for Evanston youth age 8-12. Senior adults age 55+ are also cast in most shows. All performances are held at the Levy Center, 300 Dodge Avenue. The photo at left shows the cast from the November 2007 production of Charlotte's Web.

Auditions will be held from 4-6pm on Tues.,
Sept. 9 at Levy Center, 300 Dodge Ave.; Wed., Sept. 10 at Fleetwood-Jourdain Center,
1655 Foster St. and Thurs.,
Sept. 11 at Levy Center, 300 Dodge Ave. Age Level: 8-12 years
The fall production will be f “Robin Hood and Maid Marian” by Karl B. Peterson.
Note: we will be having two casts for this production. Depending on the cast to which your child is assigned, rehearsals will be either 4-6pm on Tues. or 4-6pm Thurs., as well as at either 9am or 11am on Sat. Performance weekend is Fri.-Sun., Nov. 21-23. Performance days/times are determined by the cast to which your child is assigned. 847/448-8250.
The fee is $75 to those cast. Rehearsal length: 10 weeks
The Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes Street, is home to the renowned Piven Theatre Workshop. Piven Theatre has provided classes from beginning children (4th grade and higher) to professional adults for over 30 years. Many famous actors have been through the Piven program, including the entire Cusak family. For more information on workshops please call 847.866.6597.
Along with providing acting workshops, the Piven Theatre puts on many performances each year at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center. The City of Evanston is also home to numerous student productions thanks to Northwestern University. Northwestern’s critically acclaimed theatre program provides performing arts opportunities every week. The Northwestern program produces more than eight main stage shows a year, along with countless student productions.
The school also puts on a Summer Theatre Festival. One of Northwestern’s most famous productions is called the Dolphin Show, which is the nation’s largest student-produced musical. Famous alumni of the show include David Schwimmer, Ann Margret, Tony Randall and Warren Beatty.
